What is Medical Trauma?
Medical trauma refers to the emotional and psychological distress that individuals experience as a result of medical treatments or health-related experiences. This can include traumatic reactions to a serious diagnosis, invasive procedures, prolonged hospitalisations, or the overall impact of chronic illness. It may lead to feelings of fear, helplessness, or anxiety, and can affect a person's overall well-being and their ability to cope with medical situations. Medical trauma is not just about the physical aspect of illness but also encompasses the emotional and psychological effects that can persist long after the medical event has ended.
How can we help?
Group/Individual Counselling
At HTH, our founder Heidi deeply understands the challenges of medical trauma firsthand, having been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition in her 30s. When she faced this rare condition, there was no tailored support network available to her. That experience inspired her to create a space where others in similar situations could find support.
We offer both group and individual counseling at reduced rates for those living with chronic illnesses. If you're interested in exploring how we can support you, please reach out to us. We're here to discuss the options that will best meet your needs.
